Pirate Adventure Golf in Ryde

Revisiting the Pirate Adventure Golf course in Ryde.

The first minigolf course visited on our trip to the Isle of Wight in October was the Adventure Golf course at Peter Pan's Funfair and Amusements on the Esplanade in Ryde. As we were on the isle slightly out of season we weren't expecting all of the courses to be open for a game.

A BIG minigolf skull. And Mr Bump

We also weren't expecting to see the course quite as flooded as it was! We'd clearly escaped being thoroughly drenched while on the hovercraft over from Southsea.

The Pirate Adventure Golf course in Ryde was the 68th course visited and played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in 2009.

Happy National Christmas Tree Day 2016!

A visit to Christmas Tree World in Cheadle Hulme.

To mark the occasion we popped round Christmas Tree World at Lion House Farm in Cheadle Hulme to buy our first real Christmas tree. Marvellous.

The end of Felixstowe Pier...and the new one

Taking a look at the building of the new pier in Felixstowe.

Last weekend we visited the seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk. It's probably our most visited seaside as we take a trip there pretty much every time we go back to Ipswich to visit friends and family. On this occasion we had a look at the pier as it's undergoing a great deal of redevelopment!

On our visit last year we walked UNDER the pier for the first time and saw this ominous message!

The End is Coming

The new pier is scheduled to reopen in August 2017. It'll be interesting to see how it differs to the old one.

Check out our other blog posts about Felixstowe.

A beachy bench

Looking through our photo archives for a blog post about Felixstowe Pier I noticed this great snap of a bench that had been somewhat swamped by the beach.

Sea Road Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe

A visit to the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe.

It's something of a tradition that when we're in Felixstowe we have to visit the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road. Even when it's out of season.

Luckily we've played the course a lot over the years and we had a great match on the 9-hole layout in June.

The course was the 7th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in November 2006.

The volleyball net in Felixstowe

I've been visiting the seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk for many many years now and not once have I seen anyone using the volleyball net on the bit of grass on Sea Road.

And yet, there it hangs, year after year, peak season, out of season, come rain or shine. It's always just there.

Train nerdery of the highest order.

There's something very pleasing about seeing old London Underground tube trains in regular service on the Isle of Wight.

We first swung by Roxy Ball Room in February on our first trip to Leeds. Unfortunately on that occasion we weren't able to play as the course didn't open until 4pm, although the venue was open from midday.

Edgeley Skatepark at Alexandra Park in Stockport

A view of the building work for the new Edgeley Skatepark at Alexandra Park.

On a lunchtime wander to Edgeley in Stockport I had a walk around Alexandra Park - home of the Woodstock Petanque Club. Apart from getting chased by a few geese down at Sykes Reservoir at the bottom of the park the biggest surprise was seeing how much work had been done on the new BMX and skatepark.

Scarface's shooting gallery in Blackpool

While visiting Blackpool in October we spotted Scarface's shooting shack was still in the amusement arcade on the South Pier and had to give it a play. Just like in 2008.
