The Stratford Flyer steam train service from the Railway Touring Company passing through Adswood in Stockport, Greater Manchester at 7.47am on Saturday 8th March 2025.
The service was hauled by Black 5 locomotive No. 45212.
Edgeley Station mosaic to be removed and replaced in Stockport.
The Edgeley Station tile mosaic on the Greek Street roundabout in Stockport will be removed as part of the year-long works to replace the bridge the roundabout sits on.
The Greek Street roundabout in Stockport - you can see the 'Edgeley Station' mural on the left of the photo. I wonder how many roundabouts are also bridges over railway lines?
Unfortunately the original mosaic won't be able to be put back in place, so a new mural in keeping with the heritage of the roundabout will be put there at the end of the works.
The Edgeley Station mural mosaic on the Greek Street roundabout in Stockport. The roundabout is also known locally as the Armoury roundabout after the armoury military installation and pub there. Stockport railway station hasn't been called Edgeley Station, or Stockport Edgeley Station for many many years!
There's a new Adventure Mini Golf course at Play2Day in Guyhirn, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
We heard about the plans for the new course back in 2021 and have seen photos of the new outdoor minigolf course on the Play2Day Facebook Page - and it's railway-themed!
It looks ace.
With an address of "The Old Station Yard" was the course going to be anything other than train-themed!
We often pass through Wisbech en route to see family and friends in East Anglia, and have driven past Play2Day before. We're looking forward to swinging by on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in the future.
You can find out more about the Adventure Golf / Mini Golf course on the Play2Day website and Facebook Page.
Checking out the info on the Play2Day centre they've also got a Lazer Tag! Another of my favourite sports.
Finding a mini miniature golf course in Bickleigh, Tiverton.
My brother and his family were recently down in Devon and swung by the Devon Railway Centre on one of the days of their trip. Sadly the venue wasn't open at that time, but they did return later in the week when it was as there's a crazy golf course there too.
Unfortunately the course was so busy while they were there they didn't get to have a game, but they did find this superb and very mini crazy golf in the model world part of the centre!
The Crazy Golf course at the Devon Railway Centre counts as a visit - even though it wasn't played - and the model course is at least half a visit too. This means the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour list of courses visited since September 2006 now stands at 998.5!
We're looking forward to playing the minigolf course at Bressingham Steam & Gardens in the future. It'll be fun to have a go on the miniature and not so miniature railways there too.
A train at Stockport railway station on the 11th March 2020
The journey was a short one - from Stockport to Manchester Piccadilly and back - as I was heading into town for the Marketing Show North at the Digital City Expo at Manchester Central. That was the last event I attended before the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
I wonder where my next train journey will take take me and when it'll be?
