National Miniature Golf Day on Saturday 13th May

Not long until National Miniature Golf Day 2017.

Each year National Miniature Golf Day falls on the second Saturday in May. In 2017 this will be on Saturday 13th May.

Where will you be playing the game?

For us most days seem like they are Minigolf Days!

However, there are two quasi-official annual awareness 'days' to celebrate the game. After National Miniature Golf Day is Miniature Golf Day. This is always on the 21st of September, this year it'll be on a Thursday.

Crazy Golf course in Guildford
For last year's National Miniature Golf Day we were in Woking and Guildford to compete in the Surrey Invitational Minigolf Tournament

If you're looking for a place to play in the UK you could take a look at the list of courses we've visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. Our friends over at The Putting Penguin and A Couple of Putts have some great lists of courses in the USA.

The Dull Men's Club Calendar
Emily and I appear in the 2017 Dull Men's Club Calendar in the month of July. We've also got National Miniature Golf Day listed. The 13th is going to be quite the day considering it's Train AND Windmill Day too!

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the world's first Miniature Golf course, while the month of May is also National Golf Month.

May is National Golf Month

Next month is National Golf Month!

Miniature Golf courses on Southsea Common

While we're BIG fans of miniature golf, Emily and I do occasionally play a bit of regular golf, albeit mostly Pitch & Putt. We also enjoy playing grass Putting courses and we've visited a fair few of those on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The National Golf Month campaign is coordinated by the British Golf Industry Association and its members. This year's National Golf Month is focused on getting more women golfing.

This year marks the 150th of the world's first miniature golf course. The Himalayas Putting course at St Andrews was created in 1867 specifically for female players to use. It's a wonderful course and location and a real pleasure to play.

Each year there are two quasi-official annual 'days' when you can celebrate the game. National Miniature Golf Day falls on the second Saturday in May. In 2017 this will be on Saturday 13th May. So even more reason to get out and have a round of (mini)golf next month!

Special May Days

Details of special awareness and celebration days for Coeliac Disease, Miniature Golf and Golf in May 2015.

What a month May is! There are lots of special 'days' and 'weeks' and the whole month is both Celiac Awareness Month in the USA and Canada, and National Golf Month here in the UK.

Sunday 3 May (Sonntag 3 Mai) is Minigolf Tag (Day) in Austria.

Saturday 9 is National Miniature Golf Day (a quasi-official US holiday).

The 11 to 17 May is Coeliac UK's annual Coeliac Awareness Week. It's also the Coeliac Society of Ireland's Coeliac Awareness Week.

The 16 May is International Coeliac Day. Visit the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS) for more information.

Over the weekend of 16 and 17 May Hastings Adventure Golf will play host to the British Minigolf Association for the BMGA British Championships.

In New Zealand Coeliac Awareness Week is running from 18 to 24 May.

A happy Coeliac with his lunch. I had some special gluten free deliveries to the course from Annie's Larder while in Margate for the BMGA British Minigolf Championships last year

Check out the blog posts and links below for more info on the different things happening in the gluten free and minigolf worlds this month.

May is National Golf Month

Organised by the British Golf Industry Association, National Golf Month will be taking place during May 2015.

Playing Golf at Stockwood Park's Mini Golf course in Luton
My main sport is Minigolf, but I can often be found pitching & putting around the 9-hole Golf courses at Stockwood Park (pictured) and Tea Green in Luton

National Golf Month gives golf clubs the opportunity to promote offers through the National Golf Month website to reach both lapsed and new golfers.

The BGIA operates under the umbrella of the Federation of Sport and Play Associations (FSPA) and is the lead trade body representing UK manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors of golf products and services.

On our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour Emily and I have visited almost 600 miniature golf courses, some of which are located at 'regular' golf courses. Quite a few golf clubs and centres are building new Adventure Golf style layouts to encourage people to take up the BIG game.

In April 2012 we visited and played the world's first miniature golf course - The Himalayas - at the home of Golf, St Andrews.

We've also played the world's first Pitch & Putt course, located in Southsea, Hampshire.

As a fan of minigolf here's my blog post about the three 'days' for the great game.

- Minigolf Tag in Austria takes place on Sonntag 3 Mai.

- National Miniature Golf Day is on Saturday 9 May.

- Miniature Golf Day is ALWAYS on 21 September - this year it'll be on a Monday.

Since 2007 we've competed on the British Minigolf Association Tour and have played for the Great Britain Team at European and World Minigolf Sport Federation tournaments.
